The library hopes that all children will find the library a warm, safe and welcoming place with collections of children’s books and materials, a variety of programs and trained staff who encourage individuality and foster a love of reading and learning at any age. We are so honored to be chosen as a recipient of their generosity for the work we do to support our local youth as well! These funds were used to bring dramatic play materials into our children’s department in the form of a play kitchen, dollhouse, and play market.
The Kinnelon Butler Optimist Club relies on donations to help support youth in the community. Through their tremendous fundraising efforts, they have donated over $9,000 to local food pantries this year alone! To learn more about the Kinnelon Butler Optimists Club please visit their website.
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless! Read a book (any book) to your child. The goal is to have read 1,000 books before your little one starts kindergarten. If you read just 1 book a night, you will have read 365 books in a year. That is 730 books in two years and 1,095 books in three years. The key is perseverance. To get started, stop by and get a logbook. For every 100 books your child reads, come into the library, get your logbook stamped, and receive a prize. When you reach 1,000 books, you can join our Wall of Fame and receive a Grand Prize!
