Welcome

Welcome to the Kinnelon Public Library Children’s page. The Children’s Department is here to help you find all the resources and information you might need when it comes to children’s literature, activities and events. The library hopes that all children will find the library a warm, safe and welcoming place with collections of children’s books and materials, a variety of programs and trained staff who encourage individuality and foster a love of reading and learning at any age. We strive to offer something for everyone, from books and movies to exciting programs, so if you don’t see what you are interested in or searching for, please let one of our helpful team members know!

Welcome to the Team Miss Sally!

Miss Sally comes to us from the Chester Public Library with four years of experience as both a Youth Services Library Assistant and Youth Services Program Coordinator.

Miss Sally will shadow Ms. Caitlin until Ms. Caitlin’s maternity leave when Miss Sally will then lead the Children’s Department through the summer and the Summer Reading Program.

Upon Ms. Caitlin’s return in the fall, Miss Sally will switch gears and concentrate on working with ages 6 and up by creating programming, developing partnerships with the Kinnelon schools and leading/expanding the library’s digital offerings for youth.

Make sure to stop by the Children’s Department of the Kinnelon Public Library soon to welcome Miss Sally to the team and share your ideas with her on how to continuously improve our services to our community!

1000 Books before Kindergarten flyer.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless! Read a book (any book) to your child. The goal is to have read 1,000 books before your little one starts kindergarten. If you read just 1 book a night, you will have read 365 books in a year. That is 730 books in two years and 1,095 books in three years. The key is perseverance. To get started, stop by and get a logbook. For every 100 books your child reads, come into the library, get your logbook stamped, and receive a prize. When you reach 1,000 books, you can join our Wall of Fame and receive a Grand Prize!
