Internet Policy
Library personnel have no control over quality of information on the Internet. Each user must consider the validity and reliability of information found. Parents or guardians, NOT the library or its staff, are responsible for Internet information selected and/or accessed by their children. Some materials may be offensive, disturbing and/or illegal. Library personnel do not monitor or supervise Internet access, except for length of time of use. The library reserves the right to end an Internet session. Please be aware that viewing child pornography is against the law N.J.S.A.2C:24-4(4)(b).
Safe Child Policy
The Kinnelon Public Library welcomes and encourages children to visit the Library, use Library resources and services, and attend Library programs. Staff members are available to help and support children; however, the Library is not able to provide short- or long-term child care, or be responsible for unattended children.
Patron Conduct Policy
Patrons are welcome to the Library to engage in the types of activities associated with the use of a public library while on Library premises, or while using Library services. Such activities include reading, studying, learning, accessing information from physical and electronic sources, and attending Library sponsored programs and other approved meetings and activities. While in the Library and/or while using any Library services, all patrons and visitors shall not interfere with any other person’s use of the Library or with any Library staff member’s performance of their duties.
Meeting Room Policy
The Kinnelon Public Library views the use of library meeting rooms as a library service. The Kinnelon Public Library meeting rooms provide an opportunity to
bring together the resources of the Library and the activities of the community of Kinnelon. In the use of the facility, Library-sponsored activities receive priority in scheduling. If not in use by the Library, the meeting rooms may be used only by responsible community organizations to provide cultural and educational enrichment for members and the general public. Community organizations may use the rooms to conduct their business meetings. There is no charge for the use of the meeting rooms provided organizations follow the policies addressed in this statement and the Meeting Room Regulations.
Allowing a community organization to use a meeting room does not mean that the Library agrees with, approves of, or shares the same beliefs as that organization. The Library may not be identified as a sponsor of any organization’s function without the express prior written consent of the Library Director or the Library Board of Trustees. Neither the Library’s name nor its address may be used as a designated headquarters of any organization or business. Political gatherings for the purpose of supporting or opposing or raising funds for a specific candidate for elective office shall not be held in the Library. The Library, including the Board of Trustees, may attend or send a designated representative to any meeting in the Library. All events held or conducted in Library meeting rooms must be open to the public and free of charge; there may be no closed meetings.
