”So, Alicia, do you like your knew house?” Kate, Alicia’s BFF asked. “It’s not as nice as my old house, but at least I still get to go to the same school.” Alicia replied. “Do you want to get a book from the library?” Kate questioned. “Sure! Let’s get…Ow my foot!” Alicia answered. Kate stared at Alicia, “I’ve never heard of that.” Alicia kicked the book off her foot and picked it up. The girls looked in the book. “Hey this book is about Mr. McCarthy and McCarthy Lane.” Kate whispered. “Oh him. I’ve heard about him, he used to own every house on McCarthy Lane.” Alicia looked at Katie and you could tell that they both had the same idea. “Let’s get it.” The girls shouted. Kate brought the dusty old book to the lady at the front desk, to check out there book.
After they were done checking out their book they saw a man, a tall, grey haired man, with a spooky black hat on. He was getting closer and closer to them, and it looked like he was going to say something, but before he did Kate scardly whispered, “Let’s run.” And the girls took off like a rocket!
As soon as they opened the door to Alicia’s house they saw Mrs. Harty, Alicias mom crying on the floor. “Mom are you okay?” Alicia asked nervously afraid of what her mom would answer. “Your bro-uuuththerrr isss gone!” Mrs. Harty cried, choking on every word. Alicia didn’t say anything, she just ran up to the attic crying, and Kate followed. “Alicia calm down we will find him. I think there is going to be a mystery connected with this, and you are the best when it comes to mysteries. Alicia saw some note on the ground, so she picked it up. It read,
       Dear Mr. McCarthy,                  6-18-87
I know who you are, but you do not know me. I have something, something you want. I know that you know what I am talking about.
                     -M the RealitoR
”Who is M?” Alicia wondered. Kate shrugged her shoulders. “hey isn’t Mr. McCarthy that guy in the book?” Kate questioned. “Yeah, he is that guy in the book.” Alicia gasped. “Let’s look to see if this book has anything to do with the letter.” Carefully the girls opened the book. “It’s say that Mr. McCarthy’s son vanished, and this book claims Mr. McCarthy made his son runaway into the woods with no shelter or, food. It says that Mr. McCarthy’s son vanished on 6-18-87.” Kate read. Just the Alicia thought of something.
”The dare on the letter is 6-18-07, Mr. McCarty’s son vanished 6-18-87, and today is 6-18-07 when my brother vanished. It’s the same date, but a different year. Don’t you see Kate whoever has my broker has, Mr. McCarthy’s son, and I think that stranger we saw in the library has them!” Kate stared in amazement, “How did you figure that out?” Alicia just smiled.
The next day in the park Kate and Alicia saw that strange man again. “I’m warning you,” he threatened. “step off that case it only leads to trouble.” Kate spoke up to the man. “And who do you think you are trying to threaten us. The stranger looked away, sighed, then answered, “I’m Mr. McCarthy from McCarthy Lane.” “Huh!” They both gasped. “I have so many questions to ask him.” Alicia thought. Just then Alicia’s phone rang. “Hello.” Alicia said. “I am warning you. You will get hurt, and more bad things will happen.” The voice said. “Who was it?” Kate asked. Alicia shrugged her shoulders. “All He said was, I’m warning you, you will get hurt and more bad things will happen. Whoever it is they don’t want me to take the case.” Kate looked scared. “Mr. McCarthy tomorrow at 11:00 am meet me at my house we will talk about the case in private.” Alicia ordered. “Yes mam.” HE replied. After their chat the girls were driving home in Alicia’s limo when they saw Alicia’s realitor with a young adult. “Hey that guy driving with Mr. Kent, my realitor looks familiar, he looks like, Mr. McCarthy’s son in that library book….Kate take a picture.” Alicia yelled. Kate took a picture, then, Alicia sped down Hemlock Lane, sp Mr. Kent wouldn’t suspect something.
